About Roxi

Roxi Yung (Charlee-Jo Hanks) is a British female Singer and DJ living in Portugal.

Originally, Charlee thought of the name Roxi Yung when she couldn't decide between singing Drum and Bass & House, or Soul, Funk and Jazz; It was going to be to create 2 separate singing artists. The separate name for music has allowed Charlee to create her own real estate investments business, located in Portugal.

Roxi spent a couple of years in London after she grew up in Bournemouth - Dorset.

Over the couple of years that she lived in London, she DJ-ed at some of the most influential venues in Drum and Bass, such as the Steelyard in Bank - London (warming up for SASASAS) and in Regent's Street - London, for the launch of a high-end tech app.

Roxi's eclectic influences come from a range of very different artists such as Grooverider, Netsky, Wilkinson, Sonny Fodera, Tchami, CamelPhat, Bicep, Serum (DJ's).

Her singing influences come from Amy Winehouse, Bill Withers, Lilly Allen, Kate Nash, Duffy and Luther Vandross.

After studying Performing Arts at Brockenhurst College at the age of 16, she moved away from home at 18 to Surrey, studying Music Production and Engineering at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM), where she received another B-TEC degree. The two different courses allowed Roxi to learn to record and produce her own vocals, whilst picking up DJ-ing and music production as well.

Roxi Yung's very first official song was released while she was still studying at ACM, and received many plays on Radio 1!

The producer Walk:r (Jack Fuller) and Roxi were jamming in the studio one day and this is what they recorded:

Roxi collaborated with Sub Zero on the song and music video:

Sub Zero - Missing Piece Ft. Roxi Yung.

The song was released by Playaz and not long after the release, the song got to number 7 out of 10 of the Drum and Bass music Beatport top downloads!
